School's Out Party
The School's Out Party is coming up this month. School will be out for the summer quicker than you know. School's Out Party will be tons of fun so invite all your friends. This year we'll have the portable rock wall from On the Edge Rock Wall Gym, inflatables, a movie in the cafe' along with free pizza and popcorn. We will also have some flavored ice, games in the gym, and Garage Band in the youth room.
It all begins at 5pm and continues until 8pm. Don't forget, you will receive your summer calendar on this night, too. Don't forget and bring a friend, too.

Sunday Night Dinners
|
Sunday school classes and other groups in the church are being asked to help with dinners for youth on Sunday evenings. The goal is for one Sunday each month to be a home cooked meal and the other Sundays pizza will be served. If your class or ministry group would like to assist, please let Bryant know. Thanks!

Summer Camp |
If you have not registered for camp yet, it may not be too late. Give it a shot and see if you can get in.
For everyone who did register, we need to know who you are. Even more importantly, we need to know if you are planning to ride the bus to camp. Seats are limited and they are first come first serve. So be sure to get on the list. You will want to email Bryant before the end of May to sign up. After that you will need to sign up with Katie, Summer Intern, in person.

OUTPOURING 2011 |
Outpouring is scheduled for July 26-28th this year and it is going to be awesome! In fact, this will be the best Outpouring that has happened yet! The theme is HOPE and we will take a look at what it means to have Hope for New Life, Hope for the Future, and how to Share Hope with others. In addition to our speak, Andy Lowry, and Hadriel, the band, others guests will join us also. Renea Matteson from Taylor 4 Teens, Janet Marks from Master's Workshop, and Jamie Tworkowski from To Write Love On Her Arms, will all be sharing the stories of hope, too. It's gonna be awesome!
In addition, on July 29th, we are heading the Blizzard Beach to finish off the week. So, print up 2 flyers and give one to a friend. Print your registration form and get it turned in with your payment. |

A Note From Bryant
As you are well aware now, there is a big change just around the corner for Tonya and I. Moving to Charlotte has been something that God has been orchestrating. It was with much prayer she sought out a school to complete her Doctor of Pharmacy degree, and I began to seek out job opportunities. Oddly enough, neither of us really looked into Charlotte. Wingate University was one of the last school's on her list, but the one that she was most excited about interviewing all across the nation. Myers Park United Methodist Church I came into contact with through a friend who first spoke to the pastor who ten got in contact with me. We feel really confident that we have made a decision that follows God's plan for our lives and have been blessed in it.
I do believe that God will also bless the youth ministry and First United Methodist Church as a part of that. We currently are surrounded by the best bunch of volunteers I have ever worked with. They are committed, dedicated, and are involved because of God's call in their lives. They want to see young people growing closer to God. We have worked hard in creating some systems that will sustain this youth ministry regardless of who the staff person is. And ministry will continue stronger than it ever has before.
A young person said to me recently, that I if were leaving then they were, too. Many of us have developed some really close relationships. I have enjoyed that and through the magic of the internet we can still keep in touch. However, ministry is not about me. It is about Jesus Christ. The youth ministry will continue. It will carry on with it programs, events, and activities. Don't give up on God because I or anyone else has let you down.
We will miss Melbourne and the friends that we have made. We will being just miles from the beach. I will miss you, our friends, who have supported and encouraged us all along. May God continue to bless you in your continued ministry.
Sincerely,
Bryant Johnson Director of Student Ministries FUMC |
